55 Range Electric Motors (NEMA 48 Range Replacements)

Our new 55 frame motors are already proving themselves as popular and versatile replacements for American, NEMA style 48 frame motors, found in many blowers, fan coils and fan decks in heating and air conditioning equipment. Of 142mm, (5.6”) diameter the motors offer performance ratings from 125 watts to 750 watts at 4 pole and 6 pole speeds. Configurations are PSC (Permanent Split Capacitor), Split phase, Capacitor start/Capacitor run and Three Phase. Many of the motors are mechanically rated making them suitable for belt driven blower and pump applications as well as direct drive, air over motor, duties.

Single and three phase motors are all wound for 240 v or 380/440 v and many are rated 50/60Hz. Four pole and six pole windings are standard, with many having tapped speed control. Body enclosures are either drip proof, ventilated or totally enclosed. Ball bearings are fitted throughout.

Mounting arrangements vary from rigid foot mounts, to resilient cradle mounts and body pad mountings.

The 55 frame motors offer features which cannot be offered, or are at least only available with difficulty in other sizes. Greater output performances than are available with 48 frame motors, and greater capabilities as mechanically rated motors are obvious advantages. So also are the advantages of lower motor weight. 55 range motors have powder coated steel body shells and cast aluminium end shields, compared with larger, more bulky 60 frame motors.

Auto resetting Thermal Overload Protection is fitted as standard to single phase motors with exceptions as noted on individual models.
